Letter 07/01/1883 - by Vincent van Gogh
I was in the almshouse once on a visiting day. That is when I saw the little gardener and drew him from the window.
Well, I did not want to let that go, and it now exists in this form more or less as I can remember from memory.
Last night I received a present that gave me enormous pleasure (from the two surveyors, because a second one now comes too): a very genuine Scheveningen jacket,
with a high collar, picturesque, faded, and patched.
