Letter 01/03/1884 - by Vincent van Gogh
For my part, I often find it more pleasant to be among people who are not in fact familiar with the word in question [isolation], that is to say, peasants or weavers, then I am in politer circles.
That is fortunate for me. For instance, while I have been here I have gotten very interested in the weavers.
Have you seen many drawings of weavers? I have seen only very few. At the moment I am making three watercolors of them.
These people are difficult to draw because in their small rooms you can't get far enough away to draw the looms. I believe that is the reason why they often go wrong. I have, however, found a
room with two looms in it where I can manage it.
