Letter 07/23/1890 - by Vincent van Gogh
Perhaps you'd like to look at this sketch of Daubigny's garden - it's one of my most deliberate canvases. I'm also enclosing a sketch of old stubble fields and sketches of two size 30 canvases
of vast stretches of wheat after the rain.
Daubigny's garden, the foreground green and pink grass. On the left a green and lilac bush and a low shrub with whitish leaves. In the center a bed of roses, on the right a wicket gate, a wall,
and above the wall a hazel tree with violet foliage. Then a hedge of lilacs, a row of rounded, yellow linden trees, the house itself in the background, pink with bluish roof tiles. A bench and
three chairs, a black figure with a yellow hat, and in the foreground, a black cat. The sky pale green.
